Home Safe Home
There's no place like home. In fact, the idea of "home" should conjure
up positive images and feelings: Home is where the heart is. Your home
is your castle. Home sweet home. The last thing your home should be is
unsafe.
Home Safe Home helps older adults
live independently, comfortably, and safely in their own homes. By identifying
and correcting home hazards associated with fires, security, and particularly
falls,
Home Safe Home removes
many of the perils that seniors face as they continue to live independently,
at home.
Home Safe Home provides the following
services.
• Home Safety Surveys.
With you or a family member, our trained and experienced
representative will conduct a walk through survey of the home to identify
existing safety concerns. During the visit, safety items such as a smoke
detector, a bathmat, flashlight, and nightlight are provided. Afterwards
you will receive a report that provides the current safety status of your
home and details recommended improvements.
• Installation of Safety Equipment.
Home Safe Home can quickly improve
the safety of your home. Our screened and knowledgeable independent contractors
have the experience and special tools to install new equipment such as
bathroom grab bars, interior and exterior stair railings, shower chairs,
commode railings and more. We can install safety equipment on to many
surfaces such as cement block and drywall.
• Special Projects.
When you need a custom safety project,
Home Safe Home can
help. We specialize in wooden ramp construction and we construct exterior
stairways and railings in many attractive styles. We also have experience
with major bathroom modifications.
• Self-Guided Home Safety Workbooks
Our home safety workbook is organized so that you
can go from room to room, and inside/outside to conduct your own safety
survey. After you identify safety concerns, contact us for advise or assistance.
The workbook also contains valuable safety tips to improve your home and
to increase your knowledge of the relationship between personal activity
and injury prevention.
• Safety Education
Schedule a home safety presentation for your public
or private organization. These informative talks present important home
safety suggestions and then address the more personal issues of how the
body changes over time and how to adapt both our habits and surrounding
to those changes.
Home Safe Home is available to
anyone living in Western Allegheny County and anywhere in Beaver County.
For those who are 60 years of age and older, services may be subsidized
or available at no cost.
